# PrimaSTEM - Full Site Content > Screen-free coding and mathematics for children ages 4 to 10+. Wooden programmable robot with tangible NFC command tokens. Made in Cannes, France. PrimaSTEM is a screen-free coding robot. Children build the program by hand, from tokens on the board, and the robot runs it. The same coding goes further than other screen-free robots: not just moving the robot and a few set turns, but any distance, any angle, and real arithmetic, so the programming runs straight into real maths. One robot covers ages 4 to 10+, and Scratch keeps the same robot going past age ten. --- # Home (/) Coding and math without a screen. The child builds a program from tokens on the control board, and the robot runs it: mazes for the younger ones, geometric shapes on paper for the older ones. Ages 4 to 10+. ## Two levels, one device From a maze at four to a spiral at ten. One purchase, the whole of primary school. Logic, Numbers, Ages 4–7: mazes, sequences, debugging. Logical step 15 cm (adjustable), 90 degree turns. Mathematics, Coding, Ages 7–10+: arithmetic, geometry, marker drawing. Precise distances and angles of any value. ## Trusted by our partners Early pilots and partners across Europe. ## Choose your path Buttons: Product, Where to buy, Try the web simulator (simulator.primastem.com). ## Stay up to date on news and offers Newsletter signup, no more than once a month. "We make what children really need. Tangible, beautiful, real." - PrimaSTEM, made in Cannes, France. --- # Product (/product) The screen-free coding robot where the coding becomes real maths. Children build the program by hand, from tokens on the board, and the robot runs it. The difference is how far that program goes: not a fixed step and a couple of set turns, but any distance, any angle, and real arithmetic, so the coding here runs into real mathematics. One robot carries a child from age four, and ten is not the limit. ## How PrimaSTEM works 1. Place tokens left to right. Green LED - command accepted. The board speaks the command aloud. 2. Press "Start." The robot runs the program. LEDs show which command is running. 3. The robot runs the program, and you see the result right away. The whole program is laid out in the open: the child sees it, touches it, rearranges it. A wrong step, and the child finds it on their own. If a marker is inserted, the mistake shows up right away on the paper. This is how children learn to fix mistakes, not fear them. Try it now: the PrimaSTEM web simulator (simulator.primastem.com) works right in your browser. ## Two levels, one device Ages 4–7: Logic. Simple commands and numbers, 90 degree turns. Forward, backward, left, right, function, repeat. Mazes on color-coded maps. Planning, sequences, debugging, counting. Functions and loops show up here too: "Instead of writing it five times, tell the robot: repeat." Ages 7–10+: Mathematics. Precise distances in mm and any angle in degrees: 1-360. Arithmetic: +, -, ×, ÷, √, ^. Negative numbers. Progressions. Insert a marker, and the robot draws what the child programmed. And it doesn't stop at ten: with Scratch (scratch.primastem.com), older kids keep programming the same robot with blocks. ## The robot draws what the child programmed Insert a marker, and every move leaves a line. Forward 50, Right 144, Repeat 5 makes a star. Add an arithmetic progression, and the star becomes a spiral: the child sets the angles and distances, and the robot runs the program exactly. Drawings shown: Pentagon, Star, Spiral, Heart. No other screen-free robot can draw the spiral. Watch the process on YouTube (youtube.com/@primastem). ## Lessons included You don't need to know how to code. Every kit comes with ready-made lessons for the youngest kids, in the spirit of LOGO and Montessori: short tasks, one small step at a time, everything explained along the way. Inside: goals, materials, a step-by-step plan, plus pages to print. Open it and teach the lesson the same day, no evening prep needed. It's all online, in several languages, and viewable before you order. Full documentation at docs.primastem.com. Everything is in the base kit: no paid packs, no second budget for extras. ## A lesson that adds no screen time No tablet or app: the child works by hand, and the board names each token out loud. An hour with PrimaSTEM adds nothing to screen time. Schools are moving the same way: France banned phones in schools by law in 2018, and the Netherlands has banned them since 2024, including primary school. ## Works with the maps and lesson plans you already have PrimaSTEM adapts to the content of other educational robots. Step size adjusts to any value, not just 10 cm, 12.5 cm, or 15 cm. Any grid map already in your classroom will work. Already using another robot? Everything it does, PrimaSTEM does the same way: forward, backward, turns, repeat, function. That's the younger level here, so your existing plans and maps work as they are, no retraining and no new materials needed. ## Voice, words and music The board speaks each token as it's placed, both commands and sounds. Helps children who can't read yet, and children with visual or attention difficulties. When the program runs, the board sends the sounds to the robot, and the robot plays them: commands, words, letters of the alphabet, notes. Between movement commands, it can stop and play the token it's standing on, any of the ones the board can speak. More than 90 words are available: house, forest, cinema. The same robot that teaches coding and counting introduces speech and music along the way. Available in 19 languages: English, Français, Русский, Українська, Deutsch, Español, Italiano, Português (Brasil), Nederlands, Norsk, Polski, Svenska, Türkçe, Dansk, Suomi, Català, 日本語, עברית, العربية. Don't see your language? We'll add it on request. A Braille version is in pilot testing. ## Open platform Every token is a standard 13.56 MHz NFC tag. Any tag of the same standard works, they cost pennies and are sold on any marketplace. Take the text code from our documentation and write it with the free NFC Tools app: the whole thing takes 10 seconds. That's how you get your own numbers, loops, and arithmetic operations. The same tags placed around a game board make the map come alive: language cards, musical fields, quest stories. ## What's in the kit Ladybug robot: 125 mm diameter, wood, USB-C charging, approximately 2 hours battery, depending on usage. France: - A4 Éducation (a4.fr) - manufacturer and supplier of educational equipment and robotics for schools and individuals. - Easytis (easytis.com) - supplier of educational robots and STEM equipment for schools, kindergartens, and individuals. - Vittascience (vittascience.com) - educational platform and store: coding, robotics, AI, for schools and individuals. No distributor in your country yet? Become a distributor (/distributors). --- # Distributors (/distributors) The screen-free robot that teaches real math, not just arrows. One SKU sells into every primary buyer: schools, preschools, Montessori, after-school, parents. Coding + mathematics. Ages 4–10+. Wood. CE + UKCA certified. 19 languages. Sold wholesale to distributors. ## The market Screen-free STEM is moving from preference to policy. Governments are pulling screens out of classrooms, and PISA 2022 shows math scores sliding across Europe. Plenty of wooden robots can turn and move forward; almost none teach math. PrimaSTEM does: any angle, arithmetic, geometry, freehand drawing, from age 4 to 10+ on a single product. ## What sells Two age groups, one device: ages 4-7 logic, ages 7-10+ mathematics, and with Scratch the same robot keeps going past age ten. Works with existing maps: step size adjusts to any value. The robot draws (hand a buyer the marker, run one spiral, the room goes quiet). Teachers create their own tokens through a free phone app. Braille version in pilot testing. Voice, words and music in 19 languages. Everything is in the base kit, no paid add-on packs, no second budget for extras. ## Curriculum included A ready-made curriculum comes with every PrimaSTEM for the youngest kids, in the LOGO and Montessori tradition, viewable before you order. Lesson plans and activities built for other educational robots run on PrimaSTEM as they are. ## Mistakes become the lesson The program sits on the board, in front of the child. When the robot goes the wrong way, the child finds the step that's off, swaps a token, and runs it again. With a marker in, the mistake shows up on paper at once. Kids learn to debug instead of fearing mistakes. ## Why PrimaSTEM PrimaSTEM is a coding robot children program by hand, screen-free from the first command. The difference is how far the same coding goes: not just moving the robot and turning it a few set ways, but any distance, any angle, and real arithmetic, so the programming runs straight into real maths. One robot carries that from age 4 to 10+. (Comparison table on the page versus Cubetto and Matatalab Coding Set Pro.) ## Sales materials Everything to put PrimaSTEM in front of a school and close it: demo it live in a browser (simulator.primastem.com), show a real class using it (YouTube), drop the marketing kit into your catalogue (github.com/primastem/primastem-marketing), point teachers to the lesson plans (docs.primastem.com), keep the spec sheet on hand (/sheet), answer the usual questions (FAQ). ## Your margin Start small, grow into better terms. The first order is low-minimum and prepaid, so no cash sits in dead stock while you test your market. You price for that market, we don't second-guess it. As volume climbs into the hundreds, the wholesale price improves and territory exclusivity becomes available. Marketing materials in your language. Technical support. Joint participation at trade shows. All terms and pricing are discussed individually. --- # About (/about) French startup from Cannes building screen-free educational technology. ## We make tools that help children think PrimaSTEM is a French startup from Cannes. We build screen-free educational technology inspired by Seymour Papert's constructionism and Montessori principles. ## How it started We watched children spending more and more time in front of screens. We watched math scores fall. And we watched a child's eyes light up when they touched a wooden board and a robot, pressed a button, and the robot did exactly what they told it to. Papert said: the child should program the computer, not the other way around. We built a device where this works literally: cardboard tokens, a tangible control board, a ladybug that draws. No screen. Hands, eyes, thinking. ## What we believe Children learn by doing. Not by watching, by doing. Mathematics is beautiful. When the robot draws a pentagonal spiral, the child sees math as a picture they created themselves. Technology should be open. Every token is a standard NFC tag. No subscriptions, no walled gardens. Simplicity takes work. A four-year-old starts in five minutes. A ten-year-old programs arithmetic progressions. Same device. ## Where we are Partners: Terra Numerica / INRIA / CNRS, Educazur, AFINEF.
